UNIQUE AND EXPRESSIVEThe Earth that inspire us
Millions of years ago, a remarkable alluvial event occurred due to tectonic plate collisions, giving rise to the majestic Andes mountains. As stones rolled eastward, they followed natural channels, leaving behind stony soils. The stones decreased in size farther from the central channel due to their weight. Our vineyard, located adjacent to the Mendoza River bed, benefits from a natural 33-foot slope. This creates an oasis where large stone floors coexist with a channel of pure water from melting ice, providing unique and optimal conditions for vine cultivation.OUR PRECIOUS LANDThe Walls
Located on the outskirts of the Andes mountain range, just a few miles from the capital of Mendoza, Argentina, Las Compuertas boasts one of the iconic terroirs of Mendoza's viticulture. Situated alongside the Mendoza River, and bordering the Cipolletti dam, our land is ideal for producing wines of exceptional quality. With a grape cultivation history spanning over 120 years, Las Compuertas stands as one of Argentina's oldest and most revered wine regions.ProfileDos Cauces
Our property is characterized by three distinct soil profiles, progressively becoming rockier closer to the riverbank. Each soil profile correlates to a different wine line. The surface soil is sandy loam, devoid of rocks within the profile. Below it lies an alluvial with varying sizes of clasts accompanied by small rocks.

ProfileLos Muros
The three distinct soils spanning our estate impart diverse personalities to each wine, each one remarkably expressive of the ancient terroir of Las Compuertas. The surface of our soil features clay loam over a sandy-gravel subsoil of alluvial origin.
The upper layers vary in thickness and contain clay and fine sand, contributing to a loamy texture.
The lower horizon is clearly alluvial, likely formed through various dragging and flooding events originating from nearby basins.

ProfileTerroir Único
Our most extreme soil stretches from the northern end of our vineyard towards the river, originating from the riverbed's fluvial deposits. The soil lacks a distinct surface profile and consists of gravel with fine sand that supports rocks. It is characterized by high-energy deposits with a heterogeneous mixture of fine sands, predominantly containing medium and large rocks.

BEST PRACTICESSustainable Practices
We are deeply committed to enhancing the sustainability of our vineyard and all its operations. Our focus includes implementing good agricultural practices, cultural vineyard management, responsible soil and water management, as well as meticulous phytosanitary practices. These efforts emphasize our dedication to achieving sustainable practices throughout our vineyard operations. The Soils
In the region, soils predominantly consist of gravel and clayey silt, overlaying a base of stones inherited from the bed of the Mendoza River, which historically was much broader than it is today.
Complex Wines
These freely draining lands encourage vines to develop deep root systems, exploring the territory for water.
As a result, the vines channel their efforts into producing small, concentrated grapes with low water content.
The outcome is rich and complex wines characterized by firm, structured tannins and exceptional aging potential.
